Luminites supporting Luminites

LUMS offers various opportunities of support to its students and alumni, but there is nothing quite like a Luminite helping another Luminite. With the aim of fostering such meaningful and productive engagement amongst the community, LUMS Commons, an alumni mentorship programme is a chance for alumni to share their experience and expertise and for fellow alumni and students to learn from it.

About the Programme

There is much that our students and alumni must navigate to keep up with the rapidly changing world; from the competitive nature of today’s professional sphere and the struggles of academic life, to the uncertainties of career growth and challenges of life after university. Through this programme though, you as alumni have an opportunity to provide focused support and valuable guidance to students and fellow alumni that will help them broaden both their understanding and their network.

Benefits for Mentors

Share your professional and personal learnings with students and alumni and help them develop important career skills, expand their network, and strengthen their future.

Benefits for Mentees

Access the exclusive network of LUMS alumni and learn from their wisdom to better navigate your career and enhance life beyond LUMS.

How it Works

Alumni from all classes and programmes can participate as mentors or mentees, and current students may eventually participate as mentees. While we encourage mentor-mentee pairings to connect on a consistent basis – via any channel of your mutual choosing (email, phone calls, video conference, in-person) – we leave it up to you to decide on the frequency and form of communication.

The objectives, timeline and duration of your mentor relationship are also completely up to you. As a participant of the programme, and a valued member of the LUMS community, you are expected to adhere to the LUMS Code of Conduct. Any breach of trust in this regard may result in your removal from the programme. A silver lining we are happy to optimize on with this programme is the accessibility of the virtual realm, allowing you as alumni to take part no matter where you are. So whether you’re just around the corner from LUMS, or halfway across the globe, we invite our alumni from around the world to be a part of the Alumni Mentorship Programme. Together, we can build a stronger, closer and more engaged community.

Try Mentor Meets!

Mentor Meets is an opportunity to seek focused advice from an alumnus from your chosen industry, professional background, graduate school, or organization. Connect with a mentor for a quick chat. Sometimes an afternoon coffee, evening video call or candid conversation with a fellow (experienced!) Luminite can be just the thing you need.
